Steps to Evaluating your Business Idea

Description:

It is not only customers, but competitors as well, that will determine the success or failure of your new business idea.

Content:

Whether you want to start an online or offline business, the first thing you need to do is find out whether your product or service will sell. The first step to finding that out is to research the supply and demand of the market. Ideally you want a product or service with high demand and low competition. There are many resources with which you can accomplish that. But, before we get to that, always remember that a business idea is NOT a business opportunity until you go through the evaluation procedure and judge it to be feasible.

All successful business start-ups begin with the customer and the market in mind. Careful analysis needs to be done to determine the industry issues. What are the structure, size, growth rate and capacity of the market you have targeted? From a financial standpoint you need to look at what market share you need to reach to be profitable. You must develop a pricing strategy. Budget for your opening and operating costs to determine how long it will take to breakeven. Just as important, analyze any barriers that may hinder your entry into the market.

To help you do the above follow these suggestions: * Consider the advantages/benefits of your idea. Do they meet a need? * Will your idea solve a specific problem your proposed customer may have? * Is your idea original, an improvement on or a new combination of services or products? * Who and what is your competition? What do they offer? How do you compare? * Make sure you market test your product or service. Produce samples and ask for feedback. Listen to your customers. * Project your short, intermediate and long range goals. What will your return-on-investment be? * I your pricing structure such that customers can afford to buy it? What is the lifecycle of the product or service? * Have you given any consideration to a customer service policy?

As you can see there are many factors that come into play when you are considering a new business proposal or idea. The bulk of what is covered here would be included in your business plan and accompanying marketing plan. Both of which are crucial to your success.

It is not only customers, but competitors as well, that will determine the success or failure of your new business idea.

Securing customers in today's cluttered marketplace is difficult and requires creativity and plenty of hard work. Identifying your customer base and attracting them to be potential customers is first and foremost. As I mentioned earlier there is a wealth of information available on the Internet, albeit mostly theoretical, but with persistence and common sense you can develop a plan. The mere fact there is competition in your chosen market means there is a market for your product or service.

Keep in mind the old axiom "People don't plan to fail. They fail to plan."

How Advertising Tactics Can Broaden Your MLM Network

Description:

Different advertising tactics and how it can broaden existing or non existent MLM Network

Content:

For those who wish to broaden their MLM network but don't have the time, money, and energy to do so, a quick and dirty solution is to simply step up your advertising efforts. Take note that advertising does not necessarily mean putting up billboards or placing ads on the TV or radio. It also means doing a number of little things to help your clients recognize and remember you.

If you have advertised in any type of medium before, then you must aware that advertising costs can quickly pile up. If the advertising is done as part of a home business marketing campaign, you simply cannot afford to spend too much. If you did, the cost of building your MLM network will simply outweigh the potential benefits.

You may not have the resources to advertise to a national audience, but you certainly have the means to make people aware of what you are doing. There are many relatively inexpensive ways you can advertise. This article lists some of the alternatives that you can take to improve your visibility.

First, try printing out some flyers or stickers. Then, of course, you give them away. Flyers and stickers are very cost-effective, as you will only practically spend cents on each one. The real challenge will be to get people to notice them. If you now someone who is in advertising, ask them for advice regarding the templates of your mini-ads. If you don't know anyone in the business, you can do it yourself - try to think of the ads that have stuck by you, and imitate the concepts behind them. Remember, the goal is to make you and your company interesting and unforgettable. You don't want them to pick up a flyer or a sticker and instantly forget what it says - that defeats the purpose.

Second, advertise in the local paper. You might even start in your town's local paper. Your MLM network's foundation should include you, your loved ones, friends, and neighbors. Unless you have all the time in the world, it would be foolish to make the rounds one by one. Better to post an ad and have the people who are interested come to you. Again: make sure the ad is eye-catching and will make an impression on its readers.

Third, provide something for free. Obviously, when you give people something, they will sit up and pay attention. Whatever product you are offering in your MLM network program, experiment with giving away samples with potential clients. Chances are you'll soon be showered with more attention than you usually would care to have. In the MLM network marketing business though, attention is what you want.

By using these three simple advertising ideas in your home business marketing campaign, you will boost the number of people who will become interested in joining your MLM network.

Marketing Resolutions for the New Year

Description:

Everyone knows that with the New Year comes the big New Year’s resolutions. Many of us do not set New Year’s resolutions for our business. Get started on your “marketing resolutions for the new year.”

Everyone knows that with the New Year comes the big New Year’s resolutions. Many of us make personal goals, such as losing weight, being nice to our mother-in-law, not eating out so much, etc. etc. Oddly enough, many of us do not set New Year’s resolutions for our business. This is very important to do. The beginning of the year is a great time to look over the past year and look at our successes, and yes, our failures. What went well last year? What needs changed from last year? This information will help us set our resolutions. On top of this, we need to look at how to help our business grow. In this article, I am going to help you get started on your “marketing resolutions for the new year.”

1. Look at your past marketing plan. What worked, what didn’t?

2. Create a new marketing plan for this new year. Be sure to include the following:

Ø      Successful marketing from last year-Don’t try anything new until you are sure you have implemented what has worked for you in the past!

Ø      Monthly plans. Create a plan. Don’t just haphazardly advertise; what a waste! What will be your goal each month? Will you put together a mailing list and send letters to the same businesses each month for 6 months? Will you add your link to 5 sites each month? Will you start a company newsletter? Will you advertise in 5 newsletters each month? Will you apply or call 5 positions posted each day in your local newspaper?

Ø      Target clientele- It is very important in marketing to establish who you want to sell your service or product to, and market to that group. Don’t just market somewhere because it’s cheap, market because it is going to reach your target clientele. If I am selling computers, why would I advertise in a garden magazine? Wouldn’t it be smarter to advertise in an IT magazine or newsletter even if it costs more?

Ø      Budget marketing allowance. How much are you going to budget each month for marketing? What will you spend that allowance on? Be specific!! How much will you spend on postage, to advertise in newsletters, etc.?

Ø      Track your budget-Pay attention to where you are spending your marketing budget. Make an excel spreadsheet, create your budget in it, and then track your budget by noting besides each allowance where you spent it. You can even add a column to document how many leads you received from each advertising. This will allow you to better track what is working and what is not (helpful for monthly marketing and your next new year plan)!

3. Plan your follow-up. Have a plan in place for when the phone rings from your marketing and it is the first client. I have an initial contact form in place. I fill out all the information I need to do follow up calls/emails. Make sure you get name, number and email (at the least)! I once had a potential client call and in the middle of the call my daughter felt that was the best time to give me back her lunch (if you know what I mean). While trying to talk with the new potential client, and clean her up (without letting him know I was distracted), I forgot to get his email. This cut off any future follow-up that I could do with him. If I had my form, this would not have happened! Have something in place!!!!

4. Continually check your marketing plan. Check frequently the success of all of your marketing-that spreadsheet will be a big help. If you aren’t receiving any calls or sales from your marketing letters, evaluate why. Try to use a different marketing letter, or is it that you didn’t create your follow-up plan. Check the responses your getting from each newsletter advertisement (track the responses) and evaluate if you are spending your money on the right newsletter.

Make this year your most successful year yet! Let’s all grow our businesses and become even more prosperous than last year! In order to do this, let the world know (okay, your neighborhood for now, and the world next year) that your business is there and what you can do for your neighborhood. Create your target, and go for it!

The 5 Most Important Things to Know When Writing Your Resume

Description:

The bottom line is that the only initial purpose of having a resume is to get you the interview. After that the reason change. This article will detail the most important things to know when writing your resume.

Content:

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a resume as a short account of one's career and qualifications prepared typically by an applicant for a position.

The reality is that when you create your resume, you are like an artist/painter. Your pen is the brush and the paper is your canvas. Create a masterpiece and it will sell! Paint a dud and your own resume will abuse you.

The main purpose of a resume along with the accompanying cover letter is to get you the interview, pure and simple.

The way to accomplish this is to show off your strengths and achievements and minimize your weaknesses (we all have them). If you write your resume correctly, strengths will appear stronger and weaknesses will be less visable.

Remember, now is not the time to be modest - if you don't tell the hiring manager how good you are and what you can do for his or her company, no one else will.

You have about 5-10 seconds at the most, to attract the attention of the person reading your resume for the first time, so you skills and abilities have to be seen fast and be relevant.

Listed below are ways your resume should be used.

What does a resume do?

- Your resume organizes your career by selecting and presenting specific events clearly and concisely.

- It forces you to take inventory of your achievements - the more you understand about yourself, the more capable you become in explaining yourself to others.

- A resume should stimulate employer interest in meeting you.

- Good resumes tell the company that they would benefit from calling you in for a personal interview.

The bottom line however is it's ONLY purpose is to get you an interview.

When the hiring manager first reads the resume it should:

- make the reader want to learn more - a tease.

- quickly convey how and why you are better than the rest of the candidates in the stack of resumes they have.

- tell them what you did and how well you did it.

- show that you are uniquely qualified to solve the problem the employer has.

At the interview the resume:

- is a basis on which to start a discussion.

- serves as an agenda for a discussion, which means you have predetermined the interview's structure.

- acts as a leave behind.

After the interview:

- The person(s) who interviews you can use your resume to strengthen his/her case to other team members.

- The resume serves as an overview for others in the organization.

View your resume through the eyes of the hiring manager:

- A resume reflects your image; anything that does not help you get an interview should not be on the resume.

- View a resume as your own personal advertisement.

- The past is relevant only insofar as it shows your potential for the future.

- When in doubt, leave it out!

A good resume:

- zeros in on those skills and abilities that you have that are most relevant and important to the job you are seeking.

- focuses on your achievements and accomplishments not just the responsibilities you had at each job.

- reveals the results of your achievements.

- should project your career as a series of progressive accomplishments.

- needs to be short on words and long on facts.

- is eye appealing and visually inviting.

Just remember, your past accomplishments and achievements are relevant only as it relates to what you can do now for the hiring company. No matter how good you were at a previous company, to the hiring company, it's all about what can you do for them.

Master Niche Blogs: Babies And Parenthood - Another Way To Make Money From Your Blog

Description:

A great way to break out of the isolation a mother feels is blogging about your baby. When you are awake at 4AM, why not blog instead of looking at infomercials and make money with your blog instead.

Content:

Alain Tanguay

For the mother of a new baby, blogging is likely to be the last thing on her mind. Taking care of an infant takes so much time and when you have a toddler at home also, free time is scarce, it seems unrealistic to imagine that there would be time left over for any mother to blog. But you could make money from your blog about parenting.

And a growing number of new moms are joining the blogosphere to share their experiences and help each other during this exciting time of life. There is a whole range of benefits that new mothers can have from blogging, and the spectrum covers everything from getting through the night to helping distant relatives feel closer.

Among the reasons why, for a mom dealing with the hassles and triumphs of a baby, blogging is a great idea, is that having a blog about motherhood is a great way to blow off some steam.

Babies sometimes have very erratic sleep patterns that leave parents up many hours of the night, and sometimes the best way to fill those hours is on the internet.

Many new moms turn on the television to help them weather these dawn vigils, but by blogging through the night moms can turn what feels like a somewhat depressing situation into an actively positive and productive one which could help you make money from your blog.

Another reason why new moms often find blogging very satisfying is that it helps them to be a part of a
community.
For moms who are not able to successfully juggle a full social life with the very tough demands of taking care of a new baby, blogging can be a great way to stave off the isolation that sometimes comes with this stage of life.

A baby requires almost constant attention, and it can be difficult to attend social events when you are responsible for an infant. Luckily, the blogosphere is full of other moms in the same situation, and by chatting with them it is possible to overcome some of the loneliness that many new mothers are surprised to encounter.

Of course, for a mom with an adorable new baby, blogging can be as much about celebration as it is about necessity. Having a blog about living with a new child can give mothers the chance to reflect on how powerful and warm the sensation of motherhood is, and
sometimes sharing the triumphs of this unique time can make them even sweeter.

A blog is a great way to keep friends and family updated with news about your baby's first words or first steps, and with new technology it is easier than ever to make photos and video clips a part of your blog, so you can give far-away relatives the chance to feel much more involved in your child's life. While you're at it, why not make money from your blog. Adsense is a nice way to moneytize a blog.

“faq About Running your Internet Business”

Description:

Do you have questions about your Autoresponder, articles, and creating your business website? Knowing the answers to common questions on these topics can save you both time and money.

Content:

Do you have questions about your Autoresponder, articles, and creating your business website? Maybe you don’t have questions today, but these questions could pop up tomorrow. So you need to be aware of these common questions. Knowing the answers to these questions can save you precious time and money. Time, in fact, that could be spent making more money instead of trying to figure out a solution to the problem.

So here’s a list of questions regarding Autoresponders, articles, and your business website:

Autoresponder Question: I am moving an old list that I haven’t followed up with or contacted in awhile. I want to move this old list from the AutoResponse Plus to 1Shopping Cart. Can I just import this list into 1Shopping Cart or do I need to contact each person on the list?

Autoresponder Answer: When you move the list to 1Shopping Cart they will make the list double opt-in. 1Shopping Cart will send your list an email about this. So make sure to send an email to the list ahead of time so you can prepare them for the 1ShoppingCart email.

Note: If you haven’t really talked to these people or followed up then your response rate is probably going to be really low. Still do it, but just note that you might lose a lot of emails during the transition.

Articles Question: I know that submitting articles is a great way of viral marketing. I send out several articles on a consistent basis. I use the article submitter called Article Submitter Pro. Are there any other article submission programs that are faster?

Articles Answer: No, nothing is faster than Article Submitter Pro. If you want to try another article submitter program try Article Announcer.

Business Website Question: How do you select which keywords to put in the HTML code for your business website?

Business Website Answer: It depends. If you don’t use conversion tracking then look at keywords that have the highest click through rate. If you ARE using conversion tracking then look at the words that are converting the most. Put the top 2-3 keywords in your title tag. Don’t have more than 83 characters in your title tag.

Business Website Question: What is conversion tracking?

Business Answer: Login to your Google AdWords account to find conversion tracking. It will give you a code where you can track cost per lead and your lead conversion. It tracks from when people land on your website to getting to your thank you page. The click through rate, on the other hand, tells you the time it takes from somebody searching Google to the time they reach your website.

Interviewing Skills: How To Present Your Work History

Description:

It may take you some time and self-exploration to identify it, but there are always some aspects of your work history that carry a positive spin.

Content:

Your work history becomes a key focus in a job interview, usually right after the requisite pleasantries of whether you had difficulty finding your way, comments about the traffic and weather, and an offer of coffee or water.

As you settle back in your chair, trying to look a lot more relaxed than you feel, the interviewer picks up your resume or application and starts to ask for details about your prior experience.

If you have a resume that specifies quantifiable results, now is your chance to expand on that. If you increased sales by 20% per quarter or completed a departmental reorganization that resulted in a budget reduction of 10%, you are on your way. Obviously such achievements outlined in your resume impressed the potential employer enough to call you in for an interview, so your amplification of the details of actions you took will be eagerly welcomed.

Unfortunately, most of us perform work where the results are less obvious. If you have worked in production or customer service or retail, it is very difficult to tie your efforts directly to company results. In such a case, try to highlight any personal successes or management recognition that demonstrates your competence.

Any promotion is excellent, even if only to a lead position or being put in charge of a special project. Describe what you did so that the interviewer can appreciate your prior employer's belief in your ability to take on new responsibilities.

If no promotions were made (often none are readily available), identify any situations where you were singled out for recognition. That may range from being employee of the month to being asked to train new coworkers or receiving a written or verbal recommendation from a customer you assisted. If you received positive feedback from supervisors, describe the details.

While each job applicant tries to represent themselves as a super-achiever, the fact remains that many of us work quite competently for years without ever receiving a genuine promotion or even much recognition. Employers are aware of that. In fact, if the position is routine without much room for upward mobility, they may be wary of an over-achiever who is going to chaff against the lack of promotional opportunities. One of "The Apprentice" applicants looking for work in a manufacturing environment would be viewed with more than a dose of suspicion.

If such is your case - a good solid worker (or even somewhat marginal), find some personal strengths to describe. If you seldom take sick leave or have a reputation for always being on time, now is the time to focus on that. Perhaps you take off time whenever you can and run perennially late, bring up another aspect of your character such as an ability to work as part of a team or outstanding relationships with coworkers (those jawfests around the water cooler or the three beers after work with your cronies, complaining about the management monkeys you have to tolerate, are finally a positive reflection on you!)

If you have worked for one employer for an extended period of time, you don't have to stress your stability, the interviewer already knows that. Instead, concentrate on answering the unasked questions in his mind, his fear that you are set in your ways. Stress your flexibility and desire to learn new skills and procedures. If you changed departments or job title or responsibilities during your long tenure, give the details and how well you adapted to change.

If your work history is varied with many jobs for short periods of time, explain how much you learned from each separate job and stress your current desire to blend your experiences into a long-term, stable career. Describe how you are looking for a company where you can hunker down and commit for the long haul.

It may take you some time and self-exploration to identify it, but there are always some aspects of your work history that carry a positive spin. Don't be afraid to dwell on your strong points no matter how unimpressive you fear your prior jobs may seem.

“5 Questions About the Role of Articles in your Internet Business”

Description:

Articles are a commanding viral marketing technique. They are an effective way to promote your Internet business. Read this article to find the answer to common questions about articles and article submission.

Content:

Articles are a powerful viral marketing tactic that can spread your presence across the web and bring in loads of sales. Many Internet businesses have questions regarding articles. For example, how should they submit articles to the Internet? Following is a list of common questions about articles that can benefit any Internet business entrepreneur from a novice to an old hand.

Article Question #1: How do I submit articles to the Internet?

Answer: Since you will be submitting several articles on a consistent basis you should invest in an article submission program. A top choice is Article Submitter Pro. Article Submitter Pro is automated article submission software. Another software program you can use is Article Announcer.

Article Question #2: Here’s my situation. I have written 10 articles and want to submit them to the Internet. The question is – Should I submit these articles through Article Submitter Pro or should I go to each website directly and submit the article?

Answer: The easiest method is to use Article Submitter Pro. In Article Submitter Pro you register for websites that are relevant to your website niche. You can submit 10 articles quickly to all these websites through Article Submitter Pro.

If you don’t use Article Submitter Pro then you can go to each individual website. Be aware that this will take more time. So submit to websites that have the highest Google page rank first.

Article Question #3: What days of the week are best to submit articles if you don’t have the time to submit articles every day?

Answer: The time to submit articles is to find a rhythm, a habit. The search engines really like it if you submit articles on a consistent basis such as every 3 days or submitting only on Wednesdays at 9am for example. Make sure to also submit the same number of articles each time.

Article Question #4: Here’s my situation. I have purchased Article Submitter Pro and have begun the process of registering for all the article submission sites. Some of the article submission sites are very specific to a niche. I am in real estate. My question is – Should I submit to all the article sites or just the sites that are in the real estate industry?

Answer: Only submit to the sites that are in your industry. Delete the other unrelated sites.

Article Question #5: Does AOL have any new rules regarding article content?

Answer: Article submission rules have remained the same for AOL. (At least for now.)

How to Setup your Own Affiliate Program?

Description:

Just think about it - you are not spending any money in your advertising campaign for your product. Instead, a top quality sales force around the world are marketing and selling your product or service for 24 x 7! Isn't it a completely RISK FREE dream opportunity for you?

Content:

Debabrata Dhar

Just imagine the scenario - A top quality sales force around the world are marketing and selling your product or service for 24 x 7!

Just imagine thousands of top quality sales persons and marketers recommending YOUR product and service to all of their website visitors and opt-in subscribers!

Just think about it - you are not spending any money in your advertising campaign for your product. Instead, other people are advertising your product and you only pay money when your product is actually sold.

Isn't it a completely RISK FREE opportunity for you?

Yes, it is 100% risk free. Instead of spending money on ads and hoping for results, you are spending money on results, only after actual sell is made. This is a dream business scenario for any online entrepreneur.

Have you got what I am talking about?

It is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is referral based marketing strategy, where affiliate program owners share the revenue or profit with his or her partners (commonly known as affiliates) by paying commissions for generating sells of the owner's product or service.

An affiliate programs is a winning proposition that is both powerful and beneficial to the affiliate program owner and their partners.

An affiliate marketing program lets you set up an automated way to help others like webmasters, site owners, joint venture partners, and business professionals to join your program as a partner and receive commissions when they sell or promote your products or services.

I think affiliate marketing is the best way of generating more traffic and profits than all other types of advertising and promotional effort.

Do you know, what is the measure of success by which you can rate your business as the most successful?

A business is successful if

  • It gets continuous flow of targeted traffic

  • It is able to convert most of the visitors into its customers

  • It has maximized it's sales

  • It earns higher profits

  • It earns others' recommendation

  • It earns visibility in major search engines

  • It finds new distribution channels on regular basis
By setting up an efficient affiliated program, you can have all of the above.

So, the winning situation is - Have your own quality product or service on the theme that interests you, build your website, set up your own affiliate program, recruit a top quality sales force, increase your sells, share your profits with your affiliates instead of spending in your advertisement and hoping for people to come to your website. And the best part is - you'd be considered as matured entrepreneur even at the beginning of your career.

If you are not using affiliate program of your own business online, you're certainly missing at least a few thousands of dollars in profit every month.

I hope today's topic has revealed you a huge opportunities that you might accomplish from your own business online. Now, what do you want to do? Take a deep breath and ask yourself - "Do I remain in the same status what I am right now or do I jumpstart my new online venture that could bring magic to my life?"

Surveys - Work From Home Goldmines?

Description:

Is it really possible to take surveys from home and earn money. Your questions answered.

Content:

Taking surveys from your home have been presented as a modern day goldmine.

"Not only will you be able to sit in your bed with the laptop in bed when you work, you'll earn amazing amounts of money each day".

But is this true?

Why would someone pay for your opinion?

The answer is easy; Companies need your input in order to be successful. They need to know what everyday people want in their products, what they prefer, and what will prompt them to buy the products and services the company offers. This is called market research. By providing companies with this information, you are providing them with a valuable service. It gives them an edge on the competition and aids them in the success of their products and services.

If you have missed "the focus groups" in Trump's the Apprentice, go back and see all the old episodes to refresh your memory.

What's a focus group?

A focus group is made up of a group of individuals that have been selected by a company sponsoring the research or the research company hosting the group to discuss a given topic (survey).

The topic will relate to the company that is holding the focus group. You may or may not know what the point of the focus group is, or which company it's being held for. You're just there to share your opinions and discuss them with others in the group.

These sessions can be held online or in a research center. Focus groups can take a few hours, but they can pay over $100 per hour, so it's well worth your time.

Now you know what a survey is, why they are needed and that companies use focus groups to conduct the surveys.

A good survey will allow the company to make more money (a lot more money in many cases) and this is why they can afford to pay for your job.

Can anyone take surveys?

Sure. But most surveys are targeted towards a special group of people, sex, demographic and so on. So you will not be a good match for all surveys. But there are a large number of generic surveys where the company is looking for all types of people to get a response.

Are there many questions in a survey?

The number of questions will be different from one survey to another. You'll most likely never see less then 10 questions and not more then 50. Filling out the questions online can take as little as 10 minutes all the way to hours if there are many questions and you have to think a lot when answering them.

How will I be paid?

Whether you get paid by the survey or by the hour will depend on the company that you are completing the survey for or participating in the focus group with. In addition to cash, focus groups pay with cash, discounts, drawing entries, products or prizes.

There are several way you can earn money. Be part of a focus group, take an online survey, test products and even preview movie trailers. Not all companies can offer all of these options but they do exist.

Check out some compiled listing of known survey companies and compare them using the knowledge in this article before you decide to try one.

Domestic Energy Assessor Training 101

Description:

This article looks at how you can retrain for a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor.

Content:

NHER Energy courses help to train domestic energy assessor candidates in the UK abound. There are different training packages, each with its own energy courses.

These energy courses are based on four training elements, each two days in length. Once a DEA candidate signs up for the energy courses each category of course is delivered about two weeks apart.

Training is generally held in Milton Keynes, UK, at the NHERs suite dedicated to DEA training. Energy courses are held weekends or weekdays and candidates can choose the format and schedule that works best for them.

Two of the four elements of the total energy courses training are required of those who have already worked in the energy assessor field and are just seeking DEA certification and diploma. For those just starting out as energy assessors all energy courses are required.

Category one involves two days of courses, which involve energy-related lectures as well as practical workshops on energy-efficiency and assessment. During these energy courses students will be introduced to the first two units of the UKs National Occupational Standards.

They will get practical information on the way to upload evidence of energy compliance. Having assessed 1400 home inspectors as of this writing, those who designed the NHER energy courses determined that this information is an absolute must for DEA candidates.

Without practical guidance and workshops such as this, according to these DEA experts, candidates will have a difficult time progressing in their candidacy.

Details of the learning involved in these energy courses include the knowledge of what energy compliance really is, what is required of NOS units one and two, how they will find and generate the compliance evidence, how they will upload said evidence, and how to write a personal statement.

Energy courses will also look at the general health and safety of individuals, and the community as a whole as it pertains to and is influenced by the wise use of energy.

Students will learn and practice the steps of assessing energy risks and reporting them. They will see a live demonstration of the online EPC software, and will be given access to it.

The second category of DEA energy courses, optional for those who have energy assessor experience, includes two complete days of classroom lecture and practical energy assessment exercises.

Here candidates will get a broader understanding of the basic theory of home construction of thermal energy and of residential energy efficiency. They will learn how dwellings are constructed, the home construction terminology associated with residential building, and identification of property age with consideration of local geography. They will be taught about home construction regulations and will take part in exercises that teach them how to identify construction age.

These energy courses will also teach student to identify the basics of thermal properties, to include attics, cavity walls and insulation, among others. They learn about heating, cooling and hot water systems and controls, as well.

Military Snipers Vs. Police Snipers

Description:

This is all about snipers in the military and police snipers and how they are different from each other.

Content:

A "sniper" is someone who strikes at a target from an undisclosed location. A sniper rifle, therefore, would be any rifle a sniper uses. But commonly, a "sniper rifle" is the name given to any rifle with inherent accuracy, and modifications made to wring the most accuracy out of it. Most common sniper rifles are built from a Remington 700 bolt action rifle. That gun is readily available at most gun shops as an well made and accurate hunting rifle.

Modifications may include a cryo-stress relieved heavy barrel, a composite dimensionally stable stock with aluminum bedding blocks to "free float" the barrel (the barrel is not touched by the stock, so that there is no stress placed on it, and each shot is allowed to harmonically resonate without interference), and a good quality scope.

Each rifle is an individual, but I have seen some capable of shooting into a 1/4" at 100 yards if the operator can do his part. Last I checked, our military generally does not use night vision scopes. Rather, they use night vision headgear through which they look when operating at night. The only purpose for which non-combatants or police would need such equipment would be if they had a serious coyote or other nocturnal predator problem (the distances you cite will be discussed presently, but they are fairly unrealistic).

Scopes don't make rifles accurate. They don't help you shoot better. They help you see better and seeing can be an aid to shooting. But people who don't know how to shoot won't be helped much by any scope, regardless of the cost of it. Some years ago the military was experimenting with propriety technology in regard to a sighting system, but to the best of my knowledge, the project has been abandoned. The cost was very prohibitive, and somewhere along the line someone figured out that seeing better does not equal shooting better.

Although the military has experimented with other cartridges, you will still find the .308 (7.62mm), in use since Korea, to be the most common "sniper" cartridge. It is a good cartridge, but it has more to do with the fact that we have guns chambered in it, and has more data on the effects of wind and drops that for any other cartridge. The army sniper school requires shots to 800 meters with this rifle. The U.S.M.C. sniper school requires shots to 1000 meters.

Those are extraordinarily long shots. If the average rifle can shoot into 1/2" MOA (= 1/2" at 100 yards), that means that it can (all this is predicated on the operator doing his part perfectly, and taking out variables such as wind, etc.) shoot into 100 at 200 yards, 400 at 800 yards, 500 at 1000 yards. Beyond that distance, drop and velocity become such a factor as to make the round fairly ineffective. The "2 mile" shots are typically done with .50 BMG sniper rifles. These huge cartridges and projectiles are not anti-personnel rounds they are used to take out equipment (communications, truck engines, etc.)

The mission of the military sniper is different from that of the police sniper. The military sniper often looks for targets of opportunity; the police sniper a specific target. The military sniper tries to take his shot from as far away as he can (once he gives away his presence by the shot, the enemy will be looking for him); the police sniper tries to get as close as he can; the military sniper operates in less than ideal conditions; the police sniper usually has a matte to lay on, a flat surface to shoot from, etc. The military sniper is at the mercy of his environment; the police sniper is in control of his environment. A miss by a military sniper usually causes no immediate harm; a miss by a police sniper means likely that a hostage will die.

Because of their different operational situations, the military sniper's equipment will trade some accuracy for ruggedness and dependability; because the police sniper shoots "on his terms" his equipment can be the most accurate available, and ruggedness is not an issue (e.g. until very recently, U.S.M.C. snipers had fixed power scopes, because variable power was just too fragile for the field).

To get specifically, unless you are talking about 50 gallon "can," you're not going to hit them from 2 miles away. If that's what you want to do, you'll need a rifle chambered in .50 BMG. If you want to do it in the dark, you'll have to get night vision equipment. Obsolete Soviet stuff is readily available, but modern manufacture is also, if you're willing to pay for it.

Magnesium alloy castings

Magnesium alloy castings can be made by almost all methods of castings. The casting method to be used depends on to what use magnesium is going to be put. Some of its casting processes are as given below:

Sand casting:
Magnesium alloy’s sand castings are used in aerospace uses because of clear advantage they have in weight over aluminium and other metals. A great deal of research and development on these alloys has led to terrific changes in general properties compared with earlier AZ types. There has been and still a very large amount of castings for aerospace uses being made in AZ type alloys, the trend is for making maximum share of aerospace castings in latest zirconium types.
Though, the magnesium-aluminium and magnesium-aluminium-zinc alloys are generally easy to cast they are limited in certain respects. They show microshrinkage when sand cast and they are unsuitable for uses where temperatures of 95°C are felt. The magnesium rare earth-zirconium alloy do in fact show very good pressure tightness. The greater tendency of zirconium containing alloys to oxidize is overcome by utilizing special melting processes.
The two magnesium-zinc-zirconium alloys originally developed ZK51A and ZK61A show good mechanical properties, but they suffer from heat shortness cracking and are unweldable.
When a demand arose in aerospace engine uses for having metal of high mechanical properties at high elevated temperature (up to 205°C), thorium was replaced for rare earth metal content in alloys of the ZE and EZ type, giving rise to the alloys of the type ZH62A and HZ32A. Not only the mechanical properties improved greatly at elevated temperatures but they also retained their features of good castability and welding. The thorium containing alloys however showed a greater tendency for oxidation, requiring greater care in meltdown and pouring. A further development aimed at improving both room temperature and elevated temperature mechanical properties produced on alloy named QE22A. In this alloy silver replaced some of the zinc, and high mechanical properties were obtained by grain refinement with zirconium and by a heat treatment to the full T6 condition. But problems were experienced with both these alloys.

Permanent mould casting:
Normally alloys which are sand cast can also be permanent mould cast. The exception to this are the alloys of magnesium-zinc-zirconium type which show strong hot-shortness tendencies and are therefore unsuitable for processing by this method.

Die casting:
The alloys from which die castings are normally made are of magnesium- aluminium zinc type. Two versions of this alloy which were die cast for many years are AZ91A and AZ91B. The only difference in these two alloys is higher copper impurity in AZ91B.

The most important reason for using magnesium castings is their lightweight. Due to this magnesium castings have been greatly in use since World War II in aircraft and aerospace industry both military and commercial. The latest trend is magnesium’s use in auto field basically as die castings due to demand for lightweight cars to save petrol.

Magnesium has other important casting advantages over other metals:
a) It is an abundantly available metal
b) It is easier to machine than aluminium
c) It can be machined faster than aluminium, preferably dry.

In die casting process it can be cast four times quicker than aluminium. Die life is much more than with aluminium alloys because there is very little welding on the die surfaces. When protected correctly, especially against galvanic effects it behaves in a very satisfactory way. Modern casting methods and by applying protective coatings ensure long life for well designed components.

5 Unique Careers for Unique People

Description:

You're the type of person who shudders at the thought of working behind a desk in a traditional job. You want something fun. Something different. Something unique. The trouble is, you're not sure what that is. You know what you like to do. But, you can't get paid to do something you like to do. Right? Actually, you can, if you just think a little outside the box and think creatively.

Okay, so you're the type of person who shudders at the thought of working behind a desk in a traditional job. You want something fun. Something different. Something unique. The trouble is, you're not sure what that is. You know what you like to do. But, you can't get paid to do something you like to do. Right? Actually, you can, if you just think a little outside the box and think creatively.

The truth is, there are interesting ways to make money and do the things you like. Think of all the dog-lovers out there who have their own dog walking and dog sitting services. They get to make money and be around their passion dogs. (Okay, go figure, I'm a cat person.)

Here then is just a sampling of 5 unique careers for unique people:

1. Hypnotist

Okay, I'm a little partial to this one as I happen to be a certified hypnotist. You can learn to hypnotize people and help them achieve their goals. Maybe you're into metaphysical things, or, you just love helping people. Maybe you have found yourself to be good at persuasion. A career as a hypnotist or hypnotherapist could be right up your alley. And, if you're a bit of an entertainer, you could also learn stage hypnosis.

How long does it take to learn how to be a hypnotist? My training at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in California took a year, which included classes on hypnosis, counseling techniques, therapeutic hypnosis techniques, and the business aspects of setting up a hypnosis practice. You can learn how to actually hypnotize people in a weekend seminar, but, if you're planning on a career using hypnosis for pain control, motivation, weight loss, etc., then I do recommend a longer program which will prepare you to effectively use hypnosis for different issues. A school which has a mentoring or practicum is good as well. Be sure to look into any regulations or restrictions your state might have on hypnotists.

2. A Personal Concierge

Are you the type of person who loves to tend to details? Can you book the best rooms, the lowest airfares, get the best seats at all the shows? Put your talents to good as a personal concierge. While there is no formal definition of personal concierge, this profession is a booming business. Why? Because today's fast-paced lifestyle hardly leaves hardly any room for busy professionals nowadays to sort out their bills, schedule their activities (both personal and business), or book their vacations. As a personal concierge, you might also be expected to stand in lines, organize closets and drawers and do personal gift shopping. That's right, you can actually get paid to shop till you drop.

How do you get started as a personal concierge? There are, of course, companies which may hire you, but you can always start your own personal concierge business. Start out small (stand in lines, grocery shopping, small errands) and pretty soon you can build your reputation for more challenging assignments. As long as there are busy executives, you will have business.

3. Make Scrapbooks for Other People

Is scrapbooking your thing? Make money at it by making scrapbooks for other people. A personalized scrapbook is a great gift idea for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, etc. The thing is, while scrapbooking is a popular hobby, some people just don't have the time or, let's face it, the talent to put together a great scrapbook to be given as a gift. That's where you come in. With a website or blog as a marketing tool, you can begin to acquire clients and build your business.

4. Become a Woodworker

You read correctly. Become a woodworker. In these times of mass-produced furnishings, a piece of handcrafted woodwork can fetch a good price. People want quality and they don't mind paying for it. In addition, home renovation is in vogue, making a skilled carpenter or woodworker in demand. It's vital to become educated in the techniques and tools of a woodworker. Luckily, many community colleges and universities have programs in woodworking and carpentry.

The most common type of woodworking is carpentry. It has never faded into our everyday scenarios simply because it is highly versatile. A carpenter can always build a house, repair a shed, or renovate a dilapidated building. Either way, he or she can earn while being creative.

5. Video Game Tester

You spend all your free time playing video games, why not play and get paid for it? As a game tester it's your job to play the games and look for things that don't make sense. You verify functionality, performance, and "playability" of the game. Usually experience with video games and a high school diploma or college degree is all that's required. But, if you wish to climb the ladder in the video game business and eventually become a video game programmer, a degree in computer science is essential. If you're in school getting your degree in computer science, testing video games is a great job to have while attending school.

There are so many more unique jobs out there which match to interests. And, if they don't exist yet, create them! The point is to do what you love and are good at. If you need extra training, there are many colleges, both online and in your community, which can help you attain your goals.

CCTV - Closed Circuit Television Explained in Plain English

There are few places in today's 'Big Brother' world without encountering CCTV cameras. For good or bad, they are here to stay. There is no doubt that covert and overt CCTV cameras play an important part in reducing crime and enhancing safety but do we need so many?

The short answer is 'NO' especially when CCTV cameras are used for crime prevention and detection. In terms of crime prevention or deterrent value we might use more CCTV cameras in a highly visible way. High presence CCTV is a valuable security tool. The very presence of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras deters criminal activity, but there is a certain science in getting the placement right. Any cowboy CCTV installation firm can slap up a boatload of cameras, the first victim caught on camera might be the buyer!

Because CCTV cameras are becoming an important part of many company's business management and loss prevention programs it is essential to have a reasonable understanding of your requirements - or more importantly, deploy the skills of a reputable UK CCTV consultant.

The benefits of implementing a quality CCTV system include: Minimising the risk of theft and other illegal activities. Protecting your premises from threats such as arson, terrorism and vandalism. They are not just there for crime prevention and detection! Monitoring individual employees work performance helps improve business, Improving customer service by observing peak periods and planning the staff rotas. By observing staff activity CCTV can assist in staff training too by pinpointing areas which need addressing..

We are laden with Acts of Parliament, Laws, Rules and Regulations which can bring heavy fines upon us if we fail to maintain them. CCTV can help by enhancing health and safety standards and ensuring employees comply with legal obligations. In so many cases a well-designed CCTV system can help by doing the work of a much larger guarding team, thus leaving people free to deal with situations that arise in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.

Reducing the quantity of CCTV cameras and therefore the cost can be achieved by creating a job description for each camera. There's more to a CCTV camera than meets the eye, much is in the lens itself, the zoom facility and manoeuvrability. The most expensive isn't necessarily the best, as any honest UK CCTV expert will tell you.

Your CCTV camera must be fit for purpose and you need to be very precise when instructing your CCTV consultant. Lets look at Car Parks for example; there may be various elements that need to be observed; the entrance/exit and entire area, any individual car and a close up on the drivers' face and/or the registration number.

Another example is a retail counter; we need to monitor the point of sale for both security and health & safety. Estimating an individual's height is important so whilst distance is essential we need to get a very close view of money being exchanged … and without compromising reproduction quality for evidence.

Some of these cameras will clearly need to be visible and act as a deterrent. We also might want high visibility CCTV in domes so that nobody can see which way they are pointing and of course we might want to catch someone in the act so we choose covert CCTV.

We are not always able to observe an event in real time and need make recordings for later viewing and of course for evidence when required.

Locating CCTV cameras isn't the only aspect, the monitors are equally important. We'll look at the different types further down because focussing on the ergonomics of a security control room or guards station is important right now.

How many monitors can one individual view effectively at any given time for say, one hour?. Is it better to have all four events working from one monitor? Is there an optimum distance from the location of monitors to the CCTV operators' eyes? - How is this calculated? . How long do we need to keep recordings and in what format?

Video recordings have been effective in helping employers and police identify criminals whilst conducting crimes including; armed robbery, burglary, car park robbery, credit card fraud, colleague harassment, computer abuse, customer returns fraud, employee theft, shoplifting, vandalism, and more. Hidden cameras are often a short-term measure for targeted surveillance operations and specialist advice from UK CCTV Experts should be sought and an understanding of the Data Protection Act is essential.

When we don't understand something, we are vulnerable and the CCTV industry is no exception, especially when buying after the event and seriously effected by a previous incident.

Not all CCTV Consultants are vultures and rogues but getting an understanding of elements such as colour and monochrome video cameras, time lapse VCR's, switchers and multiplexes, remote movement control, telephone video transmission systems ... and more - Look no further, here is a simple guide to CCTV. It's not intended to be a comprehensive buyers guide but will certainly help along the way.

Because CCTV cameras are becoming an important part of many company's business management and loss prevention programs it is essential to have a reasonable understanding of your requirements - or more importantly, deploy the skills of a reputable UK CCTV consultant.

In so many cases a well-designed CCTV system can help by doing the work of a much larger guarding team, thus leaving people free to deal with situations that arise in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.

Choosing the right CCTV system and having it professionally installed is essential - it will provide you with superior results and will ultimately save you time and money. Remember that commercial CCTV systems don't come in ready-made kits, so each component can be provided especially for your needs. We will take a look at each one of those items.

CCTV pictures are displayed on monitors. Small desktop monitors, rack fitted security monitors or large hanging multiscreen monitors, they show the end product of your system - live and recorded pictures. Monochrome, colour or high definition colour, monitors are available in a range of sizes. Contrary to popular belief, larger monitors do not show a wider picture, they merely display in larger formats. In selecting monitor size, the distance from viewer to screen will dictate the required monitor size. Reception desks and counters may be fitted with 9" or 12" monitors, whereby a wall or ceiling mounted monitor showing a multiscreen display will need to be quite large. A good CCTV surveyor will recommend a monitor to best suit its environment.

Moving (pan/tilt) cameras can take the place of many fixed cameras. Generally fitted with a zoom lens, they can be remotely controlled to cover a wide area. Used predominantly in larger retail and commercial perimeter protection, the benefits of a carefully positioned camera are vast. Often housed within a dome, these cameras can spin round and round to any position faster than any subject being viewed, and zoom in for a close-up picture. They can be 'taught' to 'tour your premises, viewing key areas much more effectively.

Medium Resolution Monochrome, ( black & white ) with good sharp images of around 400 lines and light sensitive down to 0.1 lux these are excellent all-round cameras which can easily meet smaller budgets.

High Resolution Monochrome with premium digital technology performance of 580 line and 0.05 lux ensure superb pictures even in very dim lighting conditions. Medium Resolution Colour: Never before have colour cameras been as good or as accessible to smaller budget systems. Excellent for retail and good quality general surveillance, with typical 350 lines and 1.5 lux performance.

High Resolution Colour: Full digital colour cameras offer premium pictures with crisper definition and excellent performance to 480 lines and 1 lux.

Day/Night Cameras: All day and all night - one camera. Using the latest digital intelligent sensing, these cameras offer the full performance of the high-resolution colour cameras by day, then automatically switches to high-resolution monochrome camera when light levels fall.

For premium installations.
