Start your own greeting card business

Starting An Online Business With Resell Rights

Description:

For some the idea of starting a business seems exciting and the internet brings you an excellent and cost effective way over traditional businesses.

Content:

If you've been thinking of starting an online business, it may be worth your while to take a look at what resell rights can offer you. Resell Rights have been considered by many marketers as an ideal way to get your foot in the door of the online marketing and work at home industry.

With this type of product, you don't even have to go to the effort of creating your own products to sell. You can simply purchase products that other people have developed, and resell them to keep 100% of the profits. Oftentimes, your products comes with graphics, a sales letter, a thank you page and of course, the actual product.

On occasion, you're permitted to edit the product as well, allowing you to come up with a twist or unique version that only you will be selling. This can put you miles ahead of the competition, which is always a good thing. You can even pay a ghost writer to reword the entire ebook for you; this can be done quite inexpensively and will save you a lot of time.

Selling products that come with resale rights is an easy way to start an online business; however, not everyone can achieve success with this endeavor because of the intricacies involved.

Once you've acquired the rights to these products, it's time to start using them. There are many ways to profit, so let's take a look at them, their nature and reasons, how to avoid the perils they bring, and how to use them to come up with a resale rights package that your prospects would find very difficult to resist.

Exclusivity

People will be more interested in buying products with resale rights if the products are available to a limited amount of people. There are many reasons for this. The fact that resale rights are appealing to people is because they provide the purchasers an additional income stream and a ready-made product. All they have to do is change the name, include the payment processing details and upload the pages and product to their website to begin selling.

But if the same products are sold to an unlimited number of people, the market would quickly become saturated and there will be little room for you to make a profit. The same is true for products with resale rights that may be sold to a limited number of people when such a number is in the hundreds, if not the thousands.

The best approach is to sell your products to a maximum of 50 people, though a lower number would always prove better. By doing this, your product becomes more exclusive and unique.

Re-package The Product

To improve your chances of success, you must learn how to package your resale rights products correctly. Doing this involves some knowledge on the different factors that make or break resale rights marketing. You can get new graphics designed to make your product stand out from others who are selling the same resale rights product.

Divide It Into Smaller Parts

This is a fantastic way to develop multiple streams of income from the one product. For example, a 100 page ebook could be divided into 5 twenty page ebooks and sold for the same price! When you take the time to break the products into smaller parts, you can take sections of the content and add it into an email course which can be delivered via autoresponder to your subscribers.

Sell Your Own Resale Rights To The Product

Master Resale Rights are the rights to resell your resell rights products to others. Sounds confusing doesn't it, but it basically means that others who are in possession of the product can resell it just like you.

If the original seller has granted you master resale rights, you're allowed to grant others resale rights. This allows you to charge five or more times the regular price - which can be a fantastic way to quick profits.

Theoretically, you could purchase a master resale rights product for $100. You may then be able to sell the resale rights to your repackaged product for $50 to 100 people. That is $5,000 of earnings from a $100 investment!

By incorporating a few of these methods into your online business strategy, you are building a long term income and a successful business model. Remember the possibilities are endless and are only limited by your imagination. Using this business model, you can easily create multiple streams of income using resale rights, so use your imagination and start building your online business today!

Using Online Discussion Forums to Build your Business

Description:

There are dozens of online discussion forums you can join and these are great ways to promote yourself and your business.

Content:

Internet marketing forums are a great way to build a business and they are free!

A lot of forums have regular visitors who read but don't post. These people are usually seeking a home based business.

The other people who visit forums do post regularly and while they often already have a business, they may be open to other offers.

How can you use forums effectively to find business partners?

The way to make this effective is to be a regular contributor. Be sure to post an introduction as a new member and then add something of value. The more you can contribute by sharing marketing tips and other suggestions, the more people will see you as a leader and marketing expert. This in turn will make people curious and want to find out what it is you are marketing.

Forums allow signatures, this means at the end of your post and after you name you can usually have a descriptive line about your company and then a link to your web site. This is your advertisement so you want to choose your descriptive line carefully.

Don't ever make posts just specifically about your opportunity, this is considered spam and will not be taken seriously by most people. Some forums do have specific areas where you are welcome to let others know what you have to offer. Be sure to read the forum rules! You may find a particular area of the forum where advertising is allowed, it depends on the forum.

However the best advertisement you can give is to just be YOU!

Participate in discussions and start new ones in areas that you know a lot about. If you can add something that particularly helps people, whether it be internet promotion or something else that can assist people in growing their business, it not only will be appreciated but will usually find you new online friends and business partners.

How do you find forums? Do a google search and type in network marketing forums, MLM forums and internet forums. You will find many that way.

These are the most obvious but you might want to consider also joining forums that fit your particular interest. There are many on travel, pets, and entertainment just to name a few.

I suggest you check to see how active a forum is, meaning how many members it has and how often people are posting. Your time will be much better spent in forums with large memberships.

I hope this helped you and that you will take advantage of free forums to grow your business!

I Need More Reasons To Start A Home Business.

Description:

Most people are just plain tired of their boss. I don't know it just seems like everyone hates their boss.

Content:

Most people are just plain tired of their boss. I don't know it just seems like everyone hates their boss. They try to pretend like they're your friend, but they're not fooling anyone, are they? You're forced to work to pointless deadlines and targets. Anytime you spot a better way of doing something you're told that it's impractical, or, worse, that it's great but the stupid way of doing things is already ‘established' and ‘policy'.

What you might not realize is that ‘being your own boss' requires quite a lot of willpower. If there was no-one to make you get up in the morning and do any work, would you? Your home is supposed to be a place of rest and entertainment and when it's full of the equipment and temptation to do anything but work, working there can be hard. Price is Right is up on at 11:00, then it's Flinstones and Spiderman and then of course, One life to live, Days of our Lives and Y&R....Finally you sit at your computer and you hear, Hi Mom were home, what are we eating....

Speaking of those people, reminds me of another reason. You want to spend more time with your family. You feel like all you do is go to work, come home, and then sit around, too tired to do anything fun with your family. If you have children, they seem to be growing up so fast, and you're missing it all - all because you have to go out and work.

Of course, the flipside here is that you might just end up spending too much time with your family, while you're trying to work. When everyone knows you'll be in the house all day, they'll probably ask you to do all sorts of unimportant things, just because you're available. It's hard to say no, and before you know it, you're doing the job of a full-time ‘housewife' instead of what you set out to do.

My two personal favorite reasons for working online at home are saving money and commuting.

After all, once you get to the office, what is there anyway? Offices are dreary environments, and terrible to work in - traveling for hours there and back and spending a significant proportion of your wages to do it seems completely pointless (especially if you live in the middle of nowhere). If you could work from home, think of the time you'd save... and time is money, isn't it?

Don't be surprised, however, if you start to feel trapped in your home, since you never leave it. Can you find good ways to get away from it all?

At the end of the day I can say this to you....Any negative that you give me for working at home, I can find ten positives to counter....Just do It

Work at Home Jobs Can Be your Ticket to Freedom

There is an endless list of reasons why people choose to work at home. Some people are tired of attempting to climb the corporate ladder while others have family situations that require extra income.

Some families are lead by single parents who work a regular job and bring home a regular paycheck. However, the regular pay check may not be enough to cover expenses and the single parent must find a second job.

Due to responsibilities regarding their children, some single parents are not able to obtain a second job outside the home. If that single parent can work from home after the children have gone to bed, many financial issues can be solved.

Other families find themselves in a financial crisis due to medical bills. Accidents happen, family members need hospitalization for an illness, or insurance coverage has reached its maximum. In these situations, a family member who can work from home to earn extra money is an invaluable resource.

Often, when a family member begins to work from home, the income is an added bonus to an existing salary. However, many people find that once they begin to see financial and emotional benefits gained by working from home, they stop working outside the home and focus all their efforts on working from home.

So, just what options are available to those who would like to try working from home?

There are many people who choose to type at home and earn a large income. Such opportunities as writing advertisements and data entry are popular choices that help families make ends meet.

In addition, those who choose to work at home can also type online forms and surveys.

Another option for those who would like to work at home is assembling objects and crafts. Companies will pay individuals to create such objects as moccasins, bookmarks, jewelry, electronic circuits, teddy bears, picture frames, and silk arrangements.

There are literally thousands of companies who are willing to pay people to work at home and assemble objects.

Another option for those wanting to work at home is processing names and addresses. This process is fairly simple and straight forward.

Companies pay individuals to send them lists of names and addresses of opportunity seekers. Generally, companies pay around $.50 per name and send payment once a week.

Those who would like to work at home can also choose to stuff envelopes and mail circulars. This process is very simple as well. However, it is a good idea to seek some professional guidance before making this choice a money-making option for you.

There are plenty of books and programs dedicated to helping individuals realize a profit by stuffing envelopes and mailing circulars.

Selling items on eBay through online auctions can also generate income. Simply find objects to sell, follow the directions on eBay, and watch the profits roll in.

Writing grants for money being given away by the government and private foundations as well as being paid to shop are two other popular options.

Some people find that taking pictures is a great way to work at home. There are many categories of people who purchase photos, including teachers, advertisers, web site designers, and professors.

Once a picture is downloaded, the person who took the picture is paid every time someone purchases the picture. Again, professionals can help those who would like to take photos and work at home. They can supply you with lists of photos in great demand and help you get started on your work-at-home business.

A final means of being paid to work at home is through driving your own car. Companies will pay individuals to place advertisements on their cars and drive their normal routines. Some companies will even give an individual a car to drive, and it's a great way to make extra money.

Multiple opportunities abound for people who would like to work at home. Getting started on a new career can take the guidance of a professional, so be sure to seek help if you are not sure what steps to take. Once you have started to work at home, you will wonder why you had not done it sooner.

Outsource the sale function?

Description:

In which case is it better to have an internal sales force, and in which case is it preferable to outsource the sales function by using independant sales representatives?

Content:

Internal or external sales force?

In general, selling through independant sales representatives or distributors allows a company to minimize risks. If their products do not sell, they do not lose anything because they do not pay any commission to their representatives. An internal sales force has a cost, whether they sell or not.

On the other hand, direct sales give the advantage of knowing the customers better, and to sell better because an internal sales force knows your products better. So how do we choose between independant sales representatives or an internal sales force?

This depends on your products first. If you sell generic products, an independant sales force enables a company to have a better coverage of a territory at a low cost. In this case it is generally prefereable to use distributors which buy and resell your products, rather than sales representatives that are only intermediaries between the producer and the end customer. By using a distributor the company places the burden of sales administration on the distributor, which manages its own clients.

If you sell technical products, and if the sale depends on the technical knowledge of your products, it is advisable to choose independant sales representatives with care. They must have good technical competences and they must be committed to selling your products in the long term. Training sales representatives is costly, it would be a pity to train sales representatives that would represent your products for only a year or two.

In the case of expensive products, it is easier to find sales representatives that are only intermediaries but that do not buy and resell your products.

Enter a new market

To enter a new market quickly, sales representatives or distributors are probably the best solution. This minimizes risk, because these representatives are only paid if they sell your products, whereas your own sales force will cost you whether they sell or not. Local sales representatives are also the best solution because they know the local industries and local prospects.

Once you have developped a new market using sales representatives, it can be interesting to have your own local internal sales force, which could better continue to develop the market for your products than a representative. An internal sales force has the advantage of selling only your products, when most independant sales representatives sell many different products.

If you first developped a new market with distributors, it will be more difficult to replace them with your internal sales force. You must either stop selling products to your distributors, or you must compete directly with them. In both cases your offer will lose its clarity and its credibility for your end customers.

Content:

Like many personal development innovations, NLP - which stands for neuro-linguistic programming - is a product of the 1970's when the idea of cognitive patterns creating a subjective form of reality that by virtue of its ability to be manipulated, could be slated into personal development tools.

The goal is to align perceptions - usually of the individual self - with desired outcomes, such as behavioral changes. A large number of proponents of NLP have come forward with an array of techniques and theories which all sought to put this new tool into the proper service of the individual desiring a shift in personal self image and a boost to personal
development.

Of course, no theory will remain unchallenged for long and soon an equally dedicated number of opponents to this new tool were quite vociferous in their allegations that NLP was an unworkable concept that oversimplified rather complex processes within the human mind.

Whatever the case may be, NLP is here to stay. Noted motivational speakers, such as Tony Robbins, have subscribed to the tenets of NLP and thus introduced them to the eager mainstream.

People visiting these seminars or purchasing the materials being sold there are always on the lookout for working concepts, and it seems that NLP fits the bill.

Just like many other innovative ideas in the field of personal development, this one - too - was soon embraced and taken further by many noted authorities in the field who found many new approaches to the subject.

Of course, the application of NLP principles is a highly subjective field of study and application, and it has often been shown that what will work for one person may not actually have any results - beneficial or otherwise - for another.

Thus, many critics have chalked up this tool to the New Age craze of the 1970s, while others have instead opted to integrate its precepts and techniques into their self-help curricula and publications.

The goal for many a person using the tools and techniques is to overcome performance diminishing aspects of their own characters, such as fear of failure, fear of speaking before groups, or simply a lack of self esteem.

All these are viewed as being in direct opposition to the character traits that must be possessed by someone who will succeed in business, and anything that will help a person to get rid of these performance busters is considered well worth its cost.

If you take the time to visit the self help section of any bookstore, or if you simply veer off and visit the professional development section, you will find copious books that employ NLP techniques and tools in order to help the interested reader to overcome a large number of issues themselves, without the need for professional intervention.

Who knows, it might be well worth your time to take a closer look!

The Company Check-up: a Financial Examination for your Company Part I

Description:

Part 1 of the 3 part series on running a better business. This article series gives 10 areas every owner and manager needs to review to ensure their company is running smoothly.

Content:

Jayson Cardwell

As the manager or owner of a company it is essentially your responsibility to ensure that the company is run smoothly. Most small businesses don’t use a Board of Directors to their fullest capacity due to the fact that most owners and managers on some level are control freaks. It’s okay to admit it because everyone in your company is thinking it. So as the Chief Control Freak in your company keeping a close eye on the health of your business is a crucial function of the business cycle. I want to give you a ten point checklist to a healthier company. In part one of this three-part discussion I want to focus on some crucial foundation principles, cash flow, marketing, sales, and quality

(I) Cash-Flow

Cash is king, and simply put if the king has left the building, the company is not too far behind. Undercapitalization is a fierce epidemic in small business; owners struggle to find working capital to keep their companies running, and producing or selling a product or service. On a quarterly basis a company’s cash needs to be examined. Some questions to ask are, where is it coming from? Where is it going? Do we have too much cash? (Yes this is actually a problem) Examine the cash-flow cycle, the time it takes to make a sale, the time it takes to collect from the sale, and how long before that money is out the door. These are your turnover ratios, you may find that on average it takes 35 days to collect, but your vendors are requiring payment in 15 days, you have a 20 day gap of cash, and it’s time to sew that gap shut.

Examine also where that cash is going. Are you paying for inventory, subscriptions products or services that you do not need? Is the equipment that you own leased or purchased? Do you perform a cost-benefit analysis and have internal controls for purchases over a certain dollar amount? This one is the biggest kickers of all, how is your company performing budget wise, if you’re spending more in certain areas it might be time to examine why, and justify the expense. On a quarterly basis examine your staffing needs, keeping a worker on staff that is not performing up to standards, or is not providing positively to your bottom line may need to be let go, and those costs redirected. Finally, can you outsource anything to save on costs?

(II) Marketing

If no one knows who you are, where you are, what you’re about, and what you do nearly nothing else matters. Marketing is a basic foundation of business. Marketing is much more then simply running an advertisement, marketing is about positioning your company to whoever you’re targeting. This includes perception, feel, experience, price, and exposure just to name a few. Review your marketing strategy and campaigns. Are you really reaching who you wanted and are you influencing their decision in your favor? How do your current clients view you? Are they part of your target market? Review you strategy to determine if your core market has changed, and how you can address that change. Maybe who you originally intended didn’t buy you service or product, but someone else did, are you positioning yourself in that new market. Can you expand markets? Do you need to shrink markets? (Expansion does not mean profit one-hundred percent of the time) Are you priced competitively? Is your advertising working, and are you tracking results? When was the last time you issued a press release, and told everyone about your new service or product?

(III) Sales

I wanted to address sales separate because of the complexity of both subjects. After you have addressed any marketing concerns, it’s time to prepare for the return on investment, the sales cycle. From the initial contact, to the actual exchange of goods and service for a promise of cash, or actual cash how does your company stack up? Some industries have long sales cycle, especially when dealing with high priced services and items. So how often are you closing a deal? Are you losing to a competitor? If so, why? Are you speaking the language of the customer? Are you giving them what they need to hear to make the sale, or what you think sounds good? Talk to your existing clients and customers, get a feel for why they do business with you and not the guy down the street. What sealed the deal for them?

Some companies deal with larger corporations in their sales cycle, or a company who does a lot of business with the. If they are a majority of your annual sales (smaller companies often sell to large corporations who use their leverage and size to determine volume of sales, price, and collection periods) determine if you have the capacity to add more clients and diversify your client base. Selling primarily to one client can have an adverse affect in the long-run on your company financial health. If they get bought out, or if new management comes in, you as the supplier may be pushed out.

Also determine if you can diversify your revenue stream. Adding a service contract to that product may increase sales, or diversify your revenue. Adding several products or services together and packaging them is also a remedy for slow sales, it can also help to relieve you of excessive inventory in a product that’s not taking off. First determine though if it is feasible to do this. Do you have the man power, tools, equipment, and space? Assess your risk exposure to the potential downsides. Can you expand into new markets (profitably), and an often overlooked sales technique is harvesting more sales in your current market. Loyal customers are always a good place to look first when it comes to sales.

(IV) Quality

This begins with a review of your product/service. How’s the quality? How’s it viewed in the marketplace, are your clients/customers recommending it, or telling others to avoid it like the plague? Quality is the fourth foundational leg a company needs to stand on. Your sales will dwindle if you lack quality, that affects the cash-flow and no matter how much you market, nothing helps a poor quality service or product. Quality is really simple to examine, what you’re offering is either great, or it’s not. Check, check, and recheck your processes, refine what you offer. You don’t want to be known is the market place as a low-quality leader, because soon you won’t be known at all.

All four of these areas an intermingled, everything works together and cannot work separately of one another. By keeping all of these areas healthy you can run at a minimum a break-even business. In the following two parts we’ll discuss areas that can help propel you beyond your competition and keep your company healthy.

New Media and Online Marketing - Strategies, Advantages and Disadvantages

Content:

The advent of the New Media and Internet have increased possibilities of online marketing and internet retailing with new features of interactive shopping, pod casting and e-marketing. Consumers are connected to online shopping sites with WiFi, Internet or 3G mobile phones. E commerce has taken a new dimension in retailing with increasing number of people shopping online and even making flight bookings online (Papers4you.com, 2006). One such example is the traffic on the British Airways website. A comparative analysis of popular travel related websites and online ticketing facilities give us details on transaction costs, and individual and company perceptions on e commerce facilities for ticketing and travel. Internet marketing however meets with major challenges of keeping pace with consumer demands and developing relationship marketing to maintain consumer loyalty (Enzmann and Schneider, 2005). The advantages and disadvantages of internet retailing could be studied in contrast to traditional marketing considering issues related to online branding, consumer loyalty, spam, and advertising strategies. The challenges of online marketing could be studied with the same models used for general marketing management such as 4Ps or 7Ps models and trends in internet marketing and transactions can also be studied (Papers4you.com, 2006). Online pricing remains one of the major challenges and so is the prospect of virtual interactions with customers as opposed to face to face interactions in a traditional market. Issues of security and privacy are important in e marketing and shopping through secured sites is one of the major concerns of consumers (Enzmann and Schneider, 2005). Direct email marketing of goods and services has led to debates on spam and the need for strict legislation on email marketing.

Online marketing seems to have completely revolutionized marketing techniques although it has limitations on usage, privacy issues and security. The different traditional and non traditional advertising media such as newspapers, television, magazines, newsletters, direct mail, telephone, and internet may have to be compared more thoroughly and extensively to understand whether in the future online marketing would replace traditional marketing completely. Apart from ease and convenience of internet marketing, one major advantage of internet marketing is customization or personalization of products and services to suit the needs and tastes of individual customers (Ho, 2006). Tailored products or services may not have been a very wide option in traditional shopping which shows that interactive shopping has moved a step closer to the needs of the consumer and has improved the shopping experience in general. Online branding has made local consumer goods popular in global markets (Ibeh et al, 2005). The concept of relationship marketing is an important strategy for the new media and is an important tool within the contemporary marketing environment in all spheres of business, from financial services to electronics products. Online marketing has been used by banks and supermarkets and charities like Oxfam suggesting the rapid change in marketing methods used by a wide variety of organizations and show the wide acceptability of online retailing and marketing in changing business environments.

A leader is best when people barely know that they exist, Not so good when people obey and acclaim them, Worse when they despise them.

When a leader fails to honour people, People fail to honour them.

But, of a good leader who talks little and listens well, When their work is done and goals are fulfilled, People will all say, we did it ourselves.

Loa - Tzy.

I believe that most employees at their core are very similar. Regardless of race, gender, age or religion, most have certain things in common. If we are to be a successful manager, it is imperative that we understand the human elements that allow us as managers to stay "on top of our game". That is, understanding how people want to be treated by their manager. Here is a list of things that I believe all employees have in common when it comes to how they want to be treated.

1. Employees want to be valued.

Over fifty percent of all working Canadians that leave their jobs do so because they feel that they are not valued. Have you ever been told that you provide little or no value to the organization, been humiliated for making the wrong decision or been told that you are a liability to the company. If so, then you understand how important it is to be valued. Valuing people because they are human beings and the foundation of our company is reason enough to be ethical in our approach with people.

2. Employees want to be treated with respect.

Author Arnold Glasow said, " The respect of those you respect is worth more than the applause of the multitude". Many employees desire the respect of the people they work for. Respect is oxygen for the soul and when managers give it freely, it creates a positive work environment. Respecting employees gives them the freedom to perform at a high level and the incentive to work with excellence.

3. Employees want to be trusted.

My dad once told me that to be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved. Although we as managers cannot control if employees trust us, we can control our actions toward them and we can give them our trust. While it is true that we can be taken advantage of, it is also true that trust creates the foundation of a strong relationship with our people because it allows for open communication, maintains confidences and focuses on shared goals.

4. Employees want to be appreciated.

Employees want to be appreciated for the skill and effort that they bring to the work place. Letting employees know that they matter builds their self confidence and self esteem to the point that they make decisions and take action because, they know it is right and needs to be done. As a manager, let people know that you appreciate their efforts. Publicly thank them at every opportunity and give them the credit that they deserve. As one of my mentors Warren Brent Carroll once told me, "people need to walk in the sunshine and not in the shadows".

5. Employees want to be understood. A great inventor by the name of Charles Kettering once said, "there is a great difference between knowing and understanding. You can know a lot about something and not really understand it. The same is true about people." As managers we can be quick to find fault with employees who don't conform to our thought process or patterns that we know work. Sometimes our employees act differently because they have not had the advantages that we have had. As managers we ought to consider extending ourselves to them on their level and showing flexibility in our thought process. Our employees are creatures of emotions, just like us.

The term spa is traditionally used to mean a place where water that is believed to have special health-giving properties occurs. This is usually a mineral or hot spring, and can include cold water treatments. The term is derived from the Belgian town of Spa. There are many types of occupations that are employed by a spa, but the most popular is the Masseuse. A Masseuse is a man or woman who performs massages on clients.

Massage is the practice of applying structured pressure, tension, motion or vibration — manually or with mechanical aids — to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, joints and lymphatic vessels, to achieve a beneficial response. A form of therapy, massage can be applied to parts of the body or successively to the whole body, to heal injury, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, and improve circulation. Where massage is used for its physical and psychological benefits, it may be termed "therapeutic massage therapy" or manipulative therapy.

As massage is a lightly regulated industry, clients are advised to get references, ask questions and judge for themselves. In commercial settings, massage techniques involve the client being treated lying down on a massage table or in a massage chair, or on a mattress on the floor. Except for modalities such as Thai Massage or Barefoot Deep Tissue, the massage subject is generally unclothed, and the body may be "draped" with towels or sheets. This also helps keep the client warm. In some jurisdictions it is required that certain areas such as the genitals on both genders and the breast/nipple area on women be draped at all times. Due to the necessary physical contact between the practitioner and the client, sexual arousal (or signs of it) is possible, but rarely intentional. In many forms of massage, the treatment may start with the client face up or down for the first part of the session: the client then rolls over for the second half of the session. Relaxation is necessary for maximum therapeutic benefits to be achieved.

Good communication is essential to effective massage. In a commercial setting, the client is encouraged to communicate the type of treatment expected, for example relaxation or pain relief, full body massage or focus on a specific area, the amount of pressure that is comfortable, preferred techniques, and past medical history and current physical condition.

There are well over 150 types of massage therapy. Various styles of massage have developed from a number of sources.

Chair massage is by far the most convenient method of massage therapy. A chair massage session typically lasts 15-30 minutes, and is performed while fully clothed. Chair massage promotes better circulation, muscle stimulation and stress relief. This form of massage reduces tension in the back, neck, shoulders, head, arms, hands, legs or feet, providing a deep relaxation effect.

Chair massages are also advantageous because chair massage practitioners will frequently make work- or housecalls. Chair massage can also be done in hotels, airports and convention centers.

Deep tissue techniques are generally designed for more focused massage work. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, the practitioner can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement. This is the recommended approach in this modality since each person experiences pressure differently. If the pressure is applied too deeply or too quickly, the muscle may tighten to protect that area, and unnecessary damage or inflammation can be induced. Very little lubricant is used as the pressure doesn't travel much over the skin.

The most commonly used 'tools' during deep tissue massage may include, 3 and 6 fingers, reinforced fingers, a flat elbow, opposing thumbs, the heel of the hand or foot, and the forearm.

MA-URI is a new form of massage introduced by Hemi Hoani Fox in 1990, who cites as its roots Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi Nui dance, claiming increased so-called energy flow within the body and mind. Focus is internal, upon breathing, intent, and concentration. Claimed benefits include mental and physical health. Study and advocation is primarily carried out at the MA-URI Institute, headed by Hemi and Katja Fox. It is currently difficult to find practitioners, though this may change as it grows more popular.

Foot massage, as practiced by the Chinese is performed in the context of chi, in that each spot on the sole of the foot corresponds to an internal organ, and the applied therapy is healing to one's overall well being. The theory supposes that an ailment of an internal organ will be associated with the nerve ending on the sole of the foot.

Before the massage, the patient's feet are soaked for about ten minutes in a foot bath, typically a dark colored solution of hot water and Chinese herbs. The massage therapist uses liberal amounts of medicated cream, to moisturize the foot and to provide lubrication. The knuckles on the therapist's hand are usually used to provide a hard and smooth implement for the massage. As pressure is applied to the sole, theory holds that a healthy patient should not feel any strong pain. Painful spots, reflexologists believe, reflect illnesses of other parts of the body. The practitioner rubs and massages the painful spots to break down rough spots and accumulated crystals and increase circulation.

The ailments are healed when the sore spots of the sole are treated and removed by massage. Based on this theory, some shoe liners are made with pressure points to stimulate the soles of the feet to promote better health of the overall body. The nature of these "crystals" has yet to be elucidated or demonstrated scientifically. Regardless of the actual correlation of reflexology to internal organs, many enjoy it for the mix of stimulation and relaxation.

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is the largest 501 c non-profit professional organization of massage therapists in the United States, although there are other professional organizations such as the Associated Massage and Bodywork Professionals (ABMP)

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is the only national certifying group of massage therapists in the United States. This is the test that professional massage therapists take in the US even if their states don't offer licensure, in an effort to demonstrate their knowledge. Over 34 U.S. states currently use it as a requirement for their state license as well. The certification earned by successful completion of the NCBTMB exam produced by the NCBTMB is NCTMB.

The man who makes an appearance in the business world

MLM Training: How To Call Bad Leads - Part 2

Description:

This is the second step, in a three-step process, on how to successfully call and recruiting bad leads.

Content:

In How to Open a Recruiting Call Part 1, we talked about the first step, in a three step -process, for successfully opening a recruiting call. The first move causes the prospect to become slightly confused. As they attempt to regroup, we use our second move.

Conversational Recruiter: "Bob, this is a network marketing call. I'm going to ask you one question, and it's going to take 30 seconds of your time. If the answer is ‘no,' the call is over. Is it okay if I go ahead and ask you the question?"

So, what did we accomplish with this second move?

First, we told the prospect that this is a network marketing call. Now the prospect probably guessed this already, but we were bold enough to tell the prospect why we are calling. This has never happened before. Networkers are never this up front and honest. We just gained some points with the prospect.

Second, we told the prospect that we are going to only ask him one question, and it will only take 30 seconds of his time. The prospect is thinking that this isn't going to take long, and I'll soon be rid of this person. In fact, the prospect might be thinking that in another 30 seconds, I can go back to watching my Three's Company marathon. And, if I give this person any resistance, this call might take a while. I don't want to make a mistake like I did a few seconds ago.

Third, we tell the prospect if his answer is ‘no,' the call is over. The prospect is thinking that this is going to be easy. I say ‘no,' and Three's Company, here I come. But did you notice what we didn't say? That's right. We didn't say what would happen if he says anything other than ‘no'. There are no other options to the prospect. This allows the prospect to relax.

The prospect is thinking, what kind of network marketer is this? Networkers never want to hear ‘no,' right? Haven't we all been taught that we should get the prospect saying ‘yes'? Build up an army of yes's, and when you ask the closing question, the prospect will say ‘yes'. Well, that never worked for me. Not once. And I tried it hundreds of time before I decided that it was just bad advice.

Prospects aren't stupid; they can smell obvious manipulation a mile away. That's why that tactic doesn't work. Maybe prospects fell for it back in the 30s, when it was conceived, but it sure doesn't work now.

Fourth, we ask the prospect if it is okay to ask the one question. Again, the prospect is thinking, ask the question; I say ‘no'; the call is over; I go back to Chrissy, Jack, the other girl, and Mr. Roper. I think I can handle this. Go ahead and ask your question, pal, I've got ‘no' written all over it. Just ask the questions, I've got a show to watch.

The prospect has just gotten out of his daze of confusion. He thinks he is back in control. All is right with the world. It truly is a false sense of security because by allowing us to go ahead and ask our one question, the prospect is 2/3 of the way into our recruiting process...and he doesn't even know it.

We are a couple of moves away from checkmate. I hope he is recording his show.

I know, I know, I said opening the call involved three steps. Well, the next step involves a series of small moves. The best part is, it doesn't matter what the prospect says. If the prospect says, ‘no' to our question, the call is far from over. You'll see why in the next, and last, article in this series.

Teachers Become Part-time Entrepreneurs

Description:

Starting a home tutoring business can be the perfect work-at-home business for teachers. Their skills and experience can turn into a very profitable entrepreneurial business in the education industry.

Content:

Teachers and educators, are you finally ready for a change? You have successfully handled a classroom full of rambunctious kids all year and successfully taught them their lesson plans and how to do their ABCs and math. You encouraged, taught, and showed them exactly what it takes to learn and to be the best they can be. But now it’s your turn. Time to put yourself first and start on your journey to do what’s right for you. Time to finally begin your entrepreneurial dream of starting your own business or perhaps adding a supplementary income to your teacher’s salary. Time to do something just for you. And with summer right around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better. Plus, parents will spend over $4 billion nationwide this year on academic tutoring, with a predicted growth of 12 to 15 percent a year. You can see that now is the perfect time for teachers and others to consider starting their own home-based business in the hot educational industry.

The problem is finding the right business. One that can use your expertise and skills and will afford you the opportunity to not only make a great income, but feel the personal growth and satisfaction that comes with owning your own business. You want a business with a proven track record of success and one that can easily help you achieve a six-figure income. But perhaps the most important component of becoming an entrepreneur is finding a business that gives you the same personal satisfaction that teaching does, allowing you to help others, especially children. You know you can make a difference and you want that same feeling of gratitude and pride to continue outside of the classroom.

Is there such a business? The good news is, there is. Starting a home tutoring business is a perfect match for teachers and educators, women or men entering the workforce after staying home to care for family, or people who worked in Corporate America for many years and want a change. Whether you want to earn extra money or leave teaching all together and start your own business, starting a home tutoring business is the right choice. There is nothing better than being your own boss and making great money, even surpassing the income you made when employed by someone else – all from your home office on your own schedule.

So what exactly is involved in starting your own home tutoring business? Here are some of the facts, but we also encourage you to stop by our site, Home Tutoring Business, http://www.hometutoringbusiness.com for additional information.

By starting your own home tutoring business, you become a tutor broker, where you manage a network of professional teachers and educators, matching them with students in need of one-on-one in-home tutoring. In a sense you are establishing a home tutoring referral network in your community. The owner of the business, you, becomes a matchmaker, or broker, matching qualified tutors and teachers with children in need of individualized tutoring. Revenue is earned by splitting the fee for tutoring services with your tutors and teachers. The more hours you bill, the more income you will make. The potential for making money is virtually only limited to the amount of students for which you are willing to provide tutors.

All of the tutoring is done in the privacy of the child’s home. Clients love the convenience of this service because they do not have to drive anywhere to have their children tutored. Kids love it because there is no peer pressure to perform. They are in the comfort of their own home with the undivided attention of a dedicated teacher/tutor. Our experience has been that children learn better from individualized, private instruction. One does not get that at a busy learning center. You will be taking the time to get to know the student and family and matching them with a tutor who can help them with their academic needs, personalities and learning styles. This one-on-one attention is effective and offers parents the convenience of not having to drive their children anywhere to get quality, individualized tutoring.

The tutors you hire enjoy it because you have it all set up for them. They don’t have the expense of advertising for students, they can work with families that have signed a tutoring contract and have been “pre-screened” by you. The tutoring is consistent (we suggest at least one hour a week per subject per student) and they can pick and choose their clients and make their own schedules based on how far they want to travel and what subjects and grades they can tutor. Tutors love the flexibility and the constant stream of business being offered to them. It’s a win/win for all.

Laurie Hurley, the president of Home Tutoring Business, has been matching tutors with students since 2001 connecting over 150 qualified tutors with pupils throughout Southern California, and successfully assisting hundreds of students by matching them with dedicated professionals. During the peak school months, Hurley’s list of qualified instructors is extensive, and her clientele upwards of 200 kids tutored on any given evening during the school week. And, since 2005 Hurley has been offering her Home Tutoring Business Package to entrepreneurs wanting the same opportunity, to start their own tutoring referral business. Hurley offers entrepreneurs a program that provides all the necessary tools including a website and access to a customized accounting software program, as well as a detailed business manual.

Hurley states, “When I started out I made some mistakes, learned from them, and developed a distinct style of marketing myself and my business. At times I learned the hard way what didn’t work. It often cost me money, but I used every opportunity to improve upon my service and expand my home-based business. In the Home Tutoring Business Manual© I share my successes and failures and give the buyer the knowledge and business ideas to build a successful company. One of the hardest aspects of starting a new business is feeling like you are doing it alone. With HTB, our business packages provide on-going support and advice, which is like having a personalized business coach and mentor to help you grow your business.”

Home Tutoring Business Packages provides the personal accomplishments and financial freedom of being a business owner with its easy step-by step format. You don’t have to be a tutor or have any background in education. HTB gives you the entrepreneurial edge to create a lucrative tutoring service, matching qualified educators with students for private in-home tutoring. Hurley has been featured in various periodicals from Entrepreneur Magazine and Woman’s World Magazine, to Inside Business Newspaper to name a few and is receiving national recognition for her works.

One tutor broker, Jane Saeman, from Orange County, California had this to say about the program, “I was looking for a business that was “All ready to go” and all I had to do was implement it and continue to work it, but that I wouldn’t have to pay monthly franchise fees. Another requirement was not to pay an enormous amount for the business that I would be starting. Add in an ability to create my own flexible schedule and an unlimited amount of money I could make (depending upon how much time I wanted to put into the business) and I had found what I had been looking for. Now that I have bought and implemented the business, I am very much impressed by how thorough Laurie has been in putting it all together. The concept, the manual, the forms, the website, the marketing materials and suggestions and the ability to know that any question I need answered is “just an e-mail away” have all contributed to my being able to build a substantial business that is continuing to grow.”

Helpful Things To Know About Menopause

Description:

Menopause is a traumatic time that has to be faced by every female. It causes a host of changes in your body, and the more you know about it, the better fit you will be to get through it smoothly.

Content:

Menopause is a traumatic time that has to be faced by every female. It causes a host of changes in your body, and the more you know about it, the better fit you will be to get through it smoothly. In this article, we'll discuss some facts about menopause so that you can be better informed about this turbulent period in a woman's life.

- Approximately four thousand women begin menopause per day.

- Roughly one third of a woman's life occurs after menopause.

- Exercise is a key factor in getting through menopause with a minimum of complications. A regular exercise pattern helps to limit the effects of the uncomfortable symptoms associated with menopause: hot flashes, depression, sleep disorders and irritability can all be lowered through a proper exercise plan. In addition, exercise has merit in preventing the physical aspects of menopause. Osteoporosis and heart disease are more prevalent in those post-menopause, and regular exercise can help to curb these risks.

- While hormone replacement therapy is commonly used to help women get through menopause, it is by no means a complete solution and it has problems associated with it. Estrogen that is used in hormone replacement therapy has been shown to increase the risk of uterine cancer. For this reason, it is important for women who have had past cases of cancer to have a thorough conversation with their doctor discussing the merits and risks of getting hormone replacement therapy.

- Low dosage anti-depressants have long been used to help women get through some of the more mental issues associated with menopause. In addition to helping with post-menopausal depression, anti-depressants can help to reduce the amount of hot flashes that are experienced. Another drug that is commonly prescribed to help menopausal patients with hot flashes is clonidine. This agent is used to help patients with high blood pressure and it has been shown to be effective in reducing hot flashes.

- Eating healthy is a key factor in just how many of the menopausal symptoms are experienced by you. Ensure that you are getting enough calcium and Vitamin D, as these two compounds help your body to deal with bone mineralization, thereby decreasing your risk for osteoporosis.

- Smoking can really affect a woman in menopause. Your risk of heart disease is increased when smoking, and certain studies have shown that smoking may increase hot flashes and actually cause menopause to occur earlier than it should.
